About SEMICON West 2018

2017 was a banner year for the semiconductor industry. Sales boomed and significant opportunities emerged, driving near-record growth across every sector. However, with today’s ever-changing global business environment, uncertainty looms over the industry outlook. SEMICON West is where the industry goes to keep up with developments in a world that is rapidly moving BEYOND SMART — and where it goes to find the information and resources it needs to keep the good times rolling.

Three days of presentations with more than 80+ hours of technical and business programming, plus hundreds of exhibitors provide the insights, innovations, and intelligence you need to get ahead and embrace today’s disruptive landscape.

From materials, equipment, design, manufacturing, system integration, and demand channels to new verticals and adjacencies such as Flexible Hybrid Electronics, MEMS & Sensors, you’ll gain access to the best in the business and get a glimpse at what’s next. Immersive, new experiences demonstrating hot-buttons like Smart Transportation, Smart Manufacturing, MedTech, Big Data, IoT, and the cognitive technologies that are transforming the world make this year’s Expo like no other before.

  • Keynote speech by Doug Davis, Sr. VP and Gen. Manager, Internet of Things Group, Intel

SEMICON West is located in the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, CA. If you’ve never been to San Francisco, take advantage of this event and stay for a visit. It is a wonderful city with a variety of cultural experiences, breathtaking views, and tourist attractions.

SFO will be your closest airport, although you can fly into Oakland and have a short drive as well. Note that even though this event takes place in July, it is usually cold year-round in San Francisco. You may get a sunny day peeking through if you are lucky, but usually it is foggy, breezy and cold in San Francisco, so pack clothes you can layer.

Moscone Center is located right off of a BART Station (San Francisco’s public transportation), and at the end of the Powell-Hyde cable car line, making it easy to get to the event via public transportation. Driving and parking around San Francisco can be challenging - the streets are crowded and parking is VERY limited, so you will definitely want to take public transportation whenever possible.

Attendees at SEMICON West are professionals that represent the leading global technology companies. Exhibitors showcase the latest products and technologies for attendees to experience in areas such as IDMs, foundries, fabless, contract packaging, OEMs, materials manufacturers, components and sub-systems companies among others. Attendees also have the opportunity to learn what’s new and compare notes with their peers and leaders in the industry at sessions and networking events.

This event is all about learning new technologies, connecting with customers, and staying up on the latest industry information. The event is segmented into Keynotes and Executive Summits each day where industry leaders discuss the future of the industry, Global Business Outlook sessions that dive deeper into this topic, Forums that focus on specific technologies, and exhibitions that demonstrate the new technologies.

The World of IoT Forum looks to be a hot topic at this year’s event. It stands to have a significant impact on the semiconductor industry, and industry leaders are looking to get out ahead of the curve. The World of IoT Forum is a free show-within-a-show and includes exhibitions and speakers focused on the industry’s role in the IoT future. Suppliers and solution providers in the semiconductor industry will cover topics such as:

  • Technology Trends and Opportunities

  • IoT and IIoT User Case Studies

  • Big Data & Analytics

  • Smart Things

  • M2M and Embedded Computing

  • MEMS and Sensor Manufacturing

This Forum is a great opportunity to get strategic insight from industry leaders about how to leverage the IoT into opportunities in this rapidly changing landscape.
